Meet the CEO

Brionna M. Pickens, M.A., CCC-SLP

CEO, The Speech & Career Center

Brionna is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist and founder & owner of The Speech & Career Center (TSCC), a pediatric private practice in Columbus, Ohio. The Speech & Career Center provides speech therapy services to children and their families in an outpatient office setting as well as early learning centers, and schools. Her practice has proudly served the community of Columbus since 2017.

Prior to starting her career and business in private practice, Brionna was employed with a private practice in Cincinnati from 2012-2014. She then relocated to Columbus after accepting a position with a local school district where she spent the next 4 years of her career from 2014-2018. In 2017, she received a vision from God to build a private practice in her community. Determined to create a thriving, Christ-centered organization to serve her area, she wrote her vision in a binder, then devoted countless hours transitioning her God vision from a binder to a brick & mortar in 3 years. Today, The Speech & Career Center renders numerous weekly speech therapy sessions, holds multiple school contracts, and has developed a plethora of referral relationships with various organizations throughout the community.

Brionna has served as a guest lecturer for colleges and universities, speaking to speech-language pathology graduate students about practical and clinical related information and courageous conversations focused on race/cultural issues in the workplace. She presented to a cohort of occupational therapy graduate students, sharing her “Binder to Brick & Mortar” story. Brionna is passionate about inspiring and introducing graduate students to the business aspects of private practice.

In addition to growing and operating her company, Brionna is a private practice consultant. Her consultant work includes teaching clinicians how to start and operate a private practice, build community partnerships, and secure school contracts.

Brionna received a master of arts in speech-language pathology from The University of Akron.

She is a lover of Christ, and devoted wife to her husband, Ron and mother to her daughter, Brenna.
